Here we stand under the bridge that carries Saughall
Road, linking the A548 Sealand Road with the village of Saughall, over
the disused line. These bridges we have encountered during our stroll are attractive and full of character. They appear to be in fairly good condition- albeit some are in need of a bit of tidying-up, as our photograph shows. It would be a great pity if they were to be defaced or destroyed- as was due to happen to Newton Lane Bridge- as part of a heavy-handed 'modernisation' of the line. Observe once again the narrowness of these structures- fine for allowing the passage of pedestrians, cyclists and horses but hardly suitable for handling a laughably-entitled 21st century transport system... |
