A Virtual Stroll Along the Mickle Trafford-Shotton Railway

Here is the view from the far side of the bridge that carries Mannings Lane across the old Mickle Trafford railway- and some of the colourful grafitti that decorates it. To our right is Chatsworth Drive and behind us runs Ivy Mews.

For a long time, access to the line from most of the bridges along the route involved negotiating broken fencing and scrambling down steep, slippery embankments.

Here at Mannings Lane- unfortunately well away from the improved cycletrack section of the old railway- access has always been considerably easier. To the right of the bridge as we view it is a flight of steps and a gate- shown in our final photograph- opening directly onto the street. It is therefore a recommended starting place for your own exploration of this part of the disused Mickle Trafford railway.
