A Virtual Stroll Along the Mickle Trafford-Shotton Railway

Approaching Mickle Trafford
, we are suddenly surprised to encounter rusting railway lines, signals and other equipment still in it original location!

No other such traces of the paraphernalia of the old railway survive between here and Deeside.

On the right is one of a series of points that once connected the Mickle Trafford railway with the still-extant line connecting Chester with Helsby, Frodsham and Runcorn.

The A56 Warrington Road runs parallel with the railway across the fields to our left and Station Lane is much closer, just behind the bushes on our right.

Once again, and despite the decaying equipment, the general environment is extremely attractive and deserves sensitive restoration to form part of Cheshire's expanding cycle/footpath network.
