A Virtual Stroll Along the Mickle Trafford-Shotton Railway




Above is another view from late 1997
of the attractive, but heavily littered wooded area running between Thirlmere Road and Sefton Road. Discarded furniture and household waste from the houses bordering the line- and possibly also dropped from Mannings Lane bridge- were very much in evidence.

The pothole in the foreground is the largest we encountered between here and Saughall.

On the right, this time looking east, the area looks a little more attractive as viewed from the parapet of Mannings Lane Bridge on a fine Sunday afternoon in May 1999.

Imagine all these trees being felled and the entire trackbed- and much of the embankment presently running alongside it- being levelled and concreted over in order to accomodate the council's idiotic CDTS guided busway scheme...
