Photographs of Liverpool: The Sailors' Home 5
More images by Steve Howe of the site of the Liverpool Sailors' Home in the years following its demolition
The site has been cleared and Liverpool One starts to rise. Paradise Street is on the left, the site of the Sailor's Home ahead.
The Sailor's Home once stood where the mass of glass and steel have risen on the left of the picture.
Brave New World (or just more of the mediocre same?)
How it used to be: W G Herdman's view of the Sailor's Home as viewed from Hanover Street.
All of the buildings on the right, including Manesty's Lane, have now vanished beneath the Liverpool One development.
